The Beginner Guitar course at Edward R Murrow High School is a general music course that introduces students to performing guitar repertoire. Screened students enter the program at this level in order to strengthen standard notation reading skills prior to entering the performing Guitar Ensemble.

Students will be able to read standard music notation on all six strings of the guitar in open position in the keys of C/Am and G/Em. Students will also be able to transition open chords in rhythm using whole note, half note, quarter note and eighth note patterns.
